Day-by-day itinerary

Day 1

Chefchaouen Fes

Your private Morocco tour from Chefchaouen begins with a short walking tour of the Chefchaouen blue city with your local guide. We then drive south to the ancient Roman ruins of Volubilis and the holy hilltop town of Moulay Idriss, continuing to Meknes to explore the medina, the ramparts and the Moulay Ismail mosque before reaching Fes for the night. This 7-day journey from Chefchaouen is organised by Local Morocco Tours from start to finish.

Day 2

Excursion in Fes

Today we explore the highlights of Fes, the oldest of the imperial cities. With a local guide you walk through the medina to landmarks such as the Al Qaraouine mosque and the Nejjarine fountain. After a full day of sightseeing, we return to your riad in Fes for the night.

Day 3

Fes Ifrane Midelt Merzouga Desert

After breakfast we continue our private Morocco tour from Fes through Ifrane, on to the Azrou cedar forest and then south across the Middle Atlas to Midelt and Errachidia. We pass Erfoud and arrive at the edge of the Merzouga desert, where we ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes to a Berber camp for dinner. After watching the sunset, we listen to traditional Berber music and spend the night under canvas.

Day 4

Merzouga Desert Todra Dades

We rise early to watch the Sahara sunrise, then ride the camels back to our guesthouse for breakfast. We continue via Rissani and Erfoud — where you can see the ancient fossil marbles — to the Todra Gorges and explore the spectacular canyon. After lunch we drive to the Dades Valley, where you spend the night in a kasbah or hotel with dinner included.

Day 5

Dades Gorges Skoura Ouarzazate

After breakfast our 7-day grand tour from Chefchaouen continues to Skoura, where we explore the palm grove and visit the kasbah of Amridil. We then drive on to Ouarzazate to see the famous Atlas film studios and the Taourirt kasbah. Dinner and overnight in a kasbah or hotel.

Day 6

Ouarzazate - Aït Benhaddou - Marrakech

Today we explore Aït Benhaddou, the famous fortified ksar and UNESCO World Heritage Site where films such as Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator were shot. We then cross the High Atlas Mountains over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Marrakech, where you spend the night in a hotel or riad.

Day 7

Marrakech Excursion Transfer to Airport

Today you take a guided walking tour of Marrakech with a local guide, taking in the top sights of the medina and the Jemaa el-Fnaa square. We then transfer you to Marrakech or Casablanca airport — an extra night in a hotel is also available on request.
